 Bio:

I am a teacher simply because I love working with children. Children are genuine, honest, and hopeful. They let you know when they are interested and when they are not. They are spontaneous and enthusiastic; and I love to see the light in their eyes when they finally "get it".

I believe that teaching is more than having students read chapters from a book and answering questions. Truly effective teachers, those who develop student interest and excitement, are the ones who create pleasant classroom environments, establish relationships with their students, use a variety of teaching methods, give constant and immediate feedback, and strive to keep students interested and engaged. Because of this, I incorporate current technology, personal knowledge of students' likes/dislikes, and pop-culture into my lessons to motivate and connect with my students. I've found that the "right" analogy from a movie, TV show, or song is often the key to helping students understand a concept while also holding their interest.

I have five ultimate goals for the 2017-2018 school year.

  • The first is to make sure my students gain the necessary academic, social, and general life skills  needed to become productive and successful citizens.
  • The second is to ensure my students become more effective written and oral communicators.
  • The third is to help my students understand that life is a purposeful gift which should be treasured and repaid with our best directed efforts.
  • The fourth is to make sure my students gain a sense of confidence in their abilities.
  • The fifth is to help my students become more independent learners.
